The musiCorps Wounded Warriors Band is a phenomenon. It’s that simple.
Collectively, they’re a stunning example of recovery, strategy, musical skill and new invention; individually, these men can now thrive –thanks to the healing power of music!
Founder, Arthur Bloom once mused that some one-on-one music lessons might take a wounded veteran’s mind of his pain and his troubles. The idea has proven itself exponentially, with extraordinary success that began a few short years ago in a nondescript room most of the folks at Walter Reed National Military Center at Bethesda didn’t even know about – a hidden enclave, peopled by a few musician volunteers and some struggling soldiers.

Awarded to musiCorps, to furnish and equip their newly acquired, permanent Studio Room Two at Walter Reed. This young but acclaimed organization will soon be able to provide a conservatory level school of music to an enrollment of 50 wounded veterans.
A dozen of these men have already risen to the top, performing with Yo-Yo Ma, Sheryl Crow and Ricky Skaggs, at Washington’s Kennedy Center and the Grand Ole Opry as well as in concert with with Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, Smashing Pumpkin’s Billy Corgan and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine at Daughters of the American Revolution Constitution Hall.
