David enlisted on October 25th of 2000. After Marine Corps Boot Camp and School of Infantry, David reported to a Marine Reserve Unit in Grand Rapids, MI. He then deployed to the Middle East twice, before being medically retired due to an injury sustained in combat.
In August 2006, his Battalion was mobilized as the main effort for Regimental Combat Team 5 deploying to Fallujah Iraq. On the morning of December 2nd of that year, while conducting a patrol, a sniper's bullet struck him two inches above his left eye, knocking him to the ground, but not unconscious. After passing his radio and command of his squad-he was evacuated and later awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with a "V" for valor in combat.
David currently lives in Arcadia, MI where he plans on establishing a hop yard, to supply the growing list of Michigan breweries. David enjoys hunting, fishing, and restoring classic cars.
